Threshing Days was a bit soggy this year, but we still made the most of it.
It had rained a couple inches the night before the parade so we picked a paved watching spot so the boys could successfully grab candy. The band didn't march this year, instead they rode a bus!
There's Noah's buddy Klay.
There are some more friends, Kacen, Koy and Kreed!
Sunday we went out to the museum grounds to check out all the tractors and watch the thresh wheat. We were prepared for mud, but after even more rain had fallen the night before, and instead of mud we found lots of standing water.
I've rarely even seen water run through this creek during Threshing Days, let alone anything like this.
The mud and water didn't keep our boys from having a good time.
We ran into cousin Sam and the boys had fun pretending this was actually a ship.
Amazingly, the guys that belong to the Engine Club and make the wheat threshing happen were still able to do a demonstration.
We waited patiently while they got everything set up and positioned just right.
And then wheat started coming out! It was plenty wet, but it still worked and it was still pretty amazing to watch.
The boys agreed with us, we're glad we have a combine to harvest our wheat with. But I think more importantly it helps us learn what farm equipment used to be and to appreciate how far it's come.
