Ok, last day of vacation! Here we go! We were up bright and early again, pigged out at the free breakfast at the hotel and then drove (making only four or five wrong turns....oops....) over to the arch.
There's no way I could have been one of the people working at building the arch. No. Way.The boys were very eager to ride to the top.
The elevator door opened and they both laughed because it was so small.
There was plenty of nervous excitement as we rode up to the top.
It's such an odd ride as you go up and slide over and up and slide over that watching their faces change was pretty entertaining.
And then we were at the top!
Noah just climbed right up to look out the window without hesitation.
Levi felt a little nervous. We'd talked about going to the top, he'd seen it from the ground but now that he was at the top he wasn't sure he was safe. Thankfully, he had his daddy to hold on to.
It didn't take long, and there weren't any tears (thank goodness), and Levi was at the window looking outside too.
Just 630 feet to the ground!
Ad then we went back down, down, down and headed out.
Before we got in the car we dipped our hands in the Mississippi River - we figured it might be a long time before we were that close to it.
And that wraps up our family vacation for 2013. It was good to be on vacation but it was also good to be home again.
-My dad was the purchasing agent for Bil-Jax scaffolding which was used to build the arch.
ReplyDelete-Do you know about the history museum below the arch? It covers all the states in the Union in the order they became states. There used to be park rangers there to discuss events in American history, even around a campfire. That'll be good several years down the road.
-Our tradition when our kids were younger was eating on the McDonald's riverboat. (Yippee!)
