That's what we've become. Seriously. We used not to like cats, like not much at all. But now....well, now we'll go out in a raging thunderstorm, getting soaked to the bone, just to save kittens!
During wedding reception set-up at the farm, Gracie the cat decided to have kittens in the bushes beside our porch. Not a good spot since it was just a few feet away from where all the wedding reception action would take place. Nevertheless, six kittens were born there and Gracie took very good care of them despite all the extra wedding action happening around her. Then it stormed the night before the wedding. We don't have gutters on this house, so when it started to pour we knew that the kittens would be in water. What felt like a high-stakes rescue effort ensued and after searching and searching we only came up with five kittens. With heavy hearts we gave up and got Gracie and her five kitties set-up in the dry garage for the night.
The next morning, first thing, I went out to check for that last kitten and sure enough, I heard a faint meowing coming from under the bushes. It survived and was warmly welcomed back by Gracie.
All was going well until today. Now we can't find Gracie and we're not sure what will become of her kittens. That situation has me very worried. The boys and I searched the yard for her and couldn't find her anywhere...see, we are crazy cat people.
