Boston: Day Four

Saturday was another beautiful day in Boston. Andy's friend Jake took us out sailing on the Charles River in the morning. It's a cool program that really makes sailing a possibility for just about everyone. You pay $250 membership per year, which includes lessons, and then you can go to Community Boating and use their boats and take whoever else with you. Pretty cool.
I went out in the first group with Jake, Andy and Noah. It was fun to watch Noah take sailing in. He liked it a lot.
He helped Jake hold the ropes and then worked with some other ropes that he was sure meant he was really sailing.

Sue, Ben and Levi went out with Jake in the second group.
Ben reported that Levi loved sailing just as much as Noah had.
We ate another picnic lunch that day and then Sue and I took Noah to the Boston Children's Museum. We had a pretty good time there, but if you're planning a trip to Boston you could skip the Children's Museum. It's just not worth the amount of money it cost to get in.
But, Noah loved the bubble area. It was almost too much of a mess for me to be able to enjoy it, but it was cool to see how big a bubble he could create.
And this one is hard to see, but he's making the bubble "grow" from his feet up to his head!

On our walk to see the USS Constitution, Tim talked to a local fisherman who had just caught a large fish.

Old Ironsides was fascinating to look at - but we didn't pay to go on a tour.
After this, we met up with Andy and he walked with us to a pizza place near Harvard. We were all so hungry that I think it was just about the best pizza we'd ever eaten.

In Boston, I got to walk through two stores that previously I'd only seen online West Elm and Anthropologie. The photo below is from Anthropologie, the petals are all made from fabric and it was two stories high. I didn't purchase anything at the stores, but I truly enjoyed seeing so many beautiful items in person - much more satisfying then browsing online.
Saturday night bedtime snack.

It worked out extremely well to share a hotel suite with Tim and Sue and it allowed all of us to share a lot more time together then we would have if we'd had two rooms.

Sunday we took the boys to the park in the morning and then headed out to the airport. We drove home from Kansas City and got to our house at about 10:15pm. We've had several days now of trying to get back into our normal routines. We've all had our cranky moments, but I think we finally turned the corner today. I certainly hope so.

  1. Thanks for all your work to put these memories together! It was WONDERFUL to spend those days with each of you. We've had our challenges getting back into the groove as well. Love you!!

  2. Thanks for the fun tour of Boston. Sort of glad Grandma, Mary and I didn't try the whale watching!
