I didn't realize just how full Friday was until I went through and posted all these photos! We started the day out a little sleepy - or at least the jostling motion of the El made us feel sleepy. We took the El to Willis Tower , formerly called the Sears Tower.
They certainly crowded us into the elevator!Lucky for us, Andy took a break from work and joined us!
At 103 stories up in the air, the views from the Sky Deck were pretty amazing. Although it was also really crowded.
We did the glass step out thing, it wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it might be. And the boys weren't even impressed by it.
Lunch was at Ed Debevic's - a unique dining experience, to say the least.
The wait staff is rude, crass, weird and dressed somewhat oddly.
The boys loved it. Our server was named Biscuits and he had the boys giggling from the start.
The lady in the background was another server and was temporarily Levi's girlfriend - until he told her he wouldn't text her from Kansas. That ended it. We had good food and a wonderful time laughing together.
Next stop, Shedd Aquarium! It was super hot outside and we were so thankful we'd bought some City Passes from someone at Andy's work. Thanks to them, we got to skip the incredibly long line outside and walk right inside the building! The aquarium was super busy because the day before the power went out and all those people got rain checks for the following day. Lucky for us, we got to try and enjoy the aquarium on their busiest day of the summer.
The boys insisted that this was a Nemo fish. No way was it a clown fish. They couldn't believe we didn't know that.
We took some time to rest when we could find spots to sit - and thanks to Ed Debevic's we had some fans to help keep us cool.
That is the leg and foot/claw of an enormous snapping turtle.
The boys pretended to be penguins for a while.
And thanks to our City Passes, we got tickets to the dolphin and whale show.
It was an interesting show. And as hot as it was outside, I was glad to not be swimming in the 55 degree water that the workers were swimming in.
Shedd has a special exhibit of Jelly Fish this summer and they were astounding.
A sign in the exhibit said, "Jellies don't need bones, blood or brains. For 500 million years, their seemingly simple systems have helped them thrive."
Amazing.
We left the aquarium to a truly sweltering day outside and an unfortunate 45 minute wait for the bus.
Finally, the bus arrived and we elbowed our way on it and started to relax.
Thankfully, we could enjoy showers and a delicious meal when we got back to Andy's apartment!
Love reliving it through your eyes!
