Boston: Day Three

Whale watching here we come! All 7 of us went on a 4-hour whale watching expedition on Friday morning.
We passed by this ship on our way out to sea. It's a Mexican Naval ship, apparently in the Boston area for training.
Do you see how they are standing on each of the things that hold the sails all the way to the very top of the boat?! I wonder if that's what they were training to do... just kidding.

We went out past the airport so we watched a number of plains come in and go out.
Levi devoured an asiago cheese bagel from Panera and the rest of us wandered around trying out our sea legs.
And then, we watched several people get seasick. Levi puked two times. I had to hand him off to Ben because I was working very hard to combat my own growing nausea. You see, the smell of asiago cheese can turn my stomach, but the smell of it coming back up was nearly more than I could handle. Levi slept for about an hour with Ben inside the boat.
Sue and I spent quite a bit of time outside the main level deck, breathing in the fresh air and watching the waves. That seemed to help us quite a bit. The power of suggestion (aka - people puking) was everywhere, so as long as I watched the water I felt better.

Unfortunately, it was a foggy day at sea and we couldn't find any whales. So we turned back toward shore and suddenly everyone, including Levi, started to feel better.
Look at our lovely family photo! We decided not to spend $20 to purchase it.
We had packed a picnic lunch that we thought we'd all eat while on our whale watching/ocean viewing cruise. But Andy, Tim and Noah were the only ones who ate on board. Once we were back on land we found a spot to relax, watch the boats and eat.
Just next door was the Boston Aquarium. Lucky for us they have an outdoor tank where we could see this seal and several of his friends swim around (for free).
Next stop: the park
And finally, the swan boats! The guy on/in the swan actually pedals, like a bike, to make the boat go.

We ate supper in our hotel room that night. Sue and I stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few supplies. We had a fridge and a microwave in our room which was handy for breakfast, snacks and keeping our picnic lunch supplies cool.
After supper, we headed for the beach! I think I like this way of experiencing the ocean much better than actually being out on the water in a boat.
The boys seemed to simply lose their clothing while we were there.
