Noah has asked for about a year to go on a train. It worked out this time for us to take him to Chicago for a day and thankfully uncle Andy came, too. The train was to arrive in Normal around 7:30 a.m., but it was a bit late.
and he had a great time! We elected to not bring toys/DVDs/etc. to entertain Noah with on the 2 1/2 hour ride which made us work a little harder to keep him occupied. We didn't want to haul around that kind of stuff while we were in the city. When Noah declared he was hungry, Ben took him to go buy a can of pop and I pulled out the snacks I had brought along and Noah was one happy passenger.
It's a lot of fun to watch a child experience something new. Perhaps it's more fun to reflect on it then to be in the midst of it, but fun nonetheless.
